Skudo is now on Firefox Add-ons
BlogAnnouncement

The Skudo extension has been reviewed and approved by Mozilla, and you can now install it from Firefox Add-ons. It creates an email alias from the field you are typing in, so a site gets an address that forwards to your inbox and never sees your real one.[1]
In short
What it does
The extension watches for email fields as you type and tells a signup form apart from a login form before it does anything. On a signup, it offers to create a fresh alias in place. Mail sent to that alias is forwarded to your real inbox, and you can rename, pause or delete any alias from the popup.
On a login form it does the opposite: it offers the alias you already made for that site, so you are never locked out by an address with no history.
Get it in three steps
- Add it from Firefox Add-ons. Open the listing and choose Add to Firefox.[1]
- Connect it to your account. Connecting takes one click and a visual code check, so there is no API key to copy.
- Use it on a signup form. Click the Skudo icon in the email field and the alias is written in.
What it can and cannot see
It has no access to any site when you install it. Reading a page to draw the icon in the field is an optional permission, asked for only after you turn that feature on. Your access token stays in the extension's background context, and the script running inside a page never sees it.[2]
The source is available to read, so you can check this against what ships. A longer description is on the extension page, and how aliases protect you during a purchase is in email aliases for online shopping.
What comes next
The Chrome listing is not live yet. Until it is, Chrome users can build the extension from the source. We will update this page and announce it when it is listed.
