What it does

The extension watches for email fields as you type and tells a signup form apart from a login form before it does anything. On a signup it offers to create a fresh alias right in the field. Mail sent to that alias is forwarded to your real inbox, and the site never sees your real address.

If a service ever leaks or sells its list, you know exactly which one it was, and you can switch that one address off without touching anything else.

The details that matter

  • Signup, not login. On a login form it offers the alias you already have for that site instead of making a new one, so you are never locked out by an address with no history.
  • One alias per site, per session. Pressing the icon twice never produces two addresses for the same signup.
  • Related sites. An alias made on one site is recognised on the sites that share its login, so you do not end up with duplicates across a company's domains.
  • Manage from the popup. Rename, pause or delete any alias at any time.
  • Small. The package is under 100 KB, because its content script runs on every page you open.

What it can and cannot see

  • It has no access to any site when you install it. Reading a page to draw the icon in the field is an optional permission, asked for only after you turn that feature on.
  • Your access token stays in the extension's background context. The script running inside a page never sees it.
  • Your forwarding address is never requested by, or shown to, the extension.
  • Site icons are fetched through Skudo's own servers instead of from each site, so no site learns that its icon was requested.
  • The Firefox listing declares that the extension collects no data. The full source is available to read and check against what ships: github.com/Skudo-Privacy/skudo-extension.

Install and connect

  1. Add it from the Mozilla Add-ons page. It needs Firefox 128 or newer.
  2. Open the extension and choose to sign in. Connecting takes one click and a visual code check. There is no API key to copy.
  3. Go to any signup form and click the Skudo icon in the email field.

There is no extension listing for Chrome yet. Until there is, it can be built from the source linked above.

You need a Skudo account

The extension creates aliases on your Skudo account, which is free. There is one tier and everything is included.
